CENTURY 21 Bamber Realty leads fundraising at Woman 2 Warrior obstacle course to support Easter Seals kids
CALGARY, AB (June 2, 2017) – Eight ladies from CENTURY 21® Bamber Realty raised $7387 as they participated in the annual Woman2Warrior 5km obstacle race in support of Easter Seals camps in Alberta. The team placed first for event fundraising for the third year in a row. Furthermore, in the three years the team has been competing in the event, they’ve raised more than $32, 000 for Easter Seals.
“We always love taking part in this event,” says Allison Bannard, team lead for the Woman2Warrior Bamber team. “This year, our fundraising total means we are sending seven kids to camp. It’s so exciting that our office can come together for this shared experience and goal that means so much to the Easter Seals community.”
The team’s top fundraiser was Paula Davies who raised $2560. One of the highlights of the day was the weather—mother nature cooperated and delivered sunshine. By the water obstacles, the ladies were ready and waiting for a cool down.
“Supporting Easter Seals and the Kids to Camp is a big part of the culture at Bamber Realty,” says George Bamber, Owner of Bamber Realty. “Each day I am surrounded by these strong women and their performance and fundraising are stellar every year.”
The team is proud to have contributed to the race’s total fundraising effort of nearly $80, 000, benefiting Easter Seals kids by providing the ultimate camping experience for more than 900 children and young adults with disabilities every summer in Alberta alone.
The event was held on Saturday, May 27 at SAIT and Riley Park in Calgary, Alberta.
About the Kids to Camp program
In 2009, CENTURY 21 Canada introduced the Kids to Camp program, sending children to one of 16 summer camps run by Easter Seals across the country. Through events like The Drop Zone, 24 hour relays, and locally organized fundraising functions, CENTURY 21 system members have provided over 3,000 children with the independence of fully-accessible summer camps and memorable experiences throughout Canada.
How are Easter Seals camps different?
Each camp is specially designed and equipped to accommodate children and young adults with special needs. The addition and maintenance of ramps and lifts, the modification of doorways, washrooms, the purchase of specialized sports equipment like climbing walls and giant swings are just a few of the expenses unique to these kinds of operations.
