Ann McCain, one of five children of McCain Foods co-founder Harrison McCain, doesn’t have the same stormy public profile as her cousins Michael (the recently divorced Maple Leaf Foods CEO, who just bought himself a new bachelor pad) and Eleanor (currently in the process of battling her ex, Jeff Melanson, in family court), but she does have the top-floor unit in a swanky boutique condo building near Yonge and St. Clair.

The penthouse is back on the market for $3.695 million, after failing to sell for a higher price in the spring. It’s one of just six units in a six-storey building at 9 Jackes Avenue, originally developed by luxury condo king Shane Baghai. The unit has three gas fireplaces, hardwood floors, and a giant covered terrace with a view of downtown.

McCain, who is a director of the McCain Foundation, closed on the property in September 2015, for $3.55 million. She and her husband, Christopher Evans, are the registered owners of a house on nearby Farnham Avenue, a five-minute walk away from 9 Jackes, which they’ve had since 1997.

McCain’s listing agent, James Molloy, wouldn’t comment on her ownership of the penthouse, and wouldn’t go into detail about her reasons for selling it so soon after buying it. “They bought it and they decided they didn’t need it,” he said. “No one’s ever lived there.”
