The place

A thoughtfully designed three-storey semi-detached home near Dundas and Sherbourne.

The open-concept main floor is bathed in natural light from three skylights:

There are a few reading nooks and a sitting room at the front of the house. The owner has collected vintage fans from the 1920s to 1960s for 15 years. Part of her collection is displayed above the entranceway:

Here’s a closer look at the cozy sitting area:

The kitchen is modern, with a vintage island that doubles as a bar:

The place has four decks. Here’s one of them off the kitchen:

The furnishings are mostly mid-century pieces found by the host. The breakfast nook has a particularly 1950s vibe:

The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom:

Another bedroom on the second floor has two twin beds:

The third-floor bedroom has a queen-sized bed (and rather sultry pillowcases):

There’s another deck off the third floor:

The history

The house is a Victorian that was torn down and rebuilt in the 1980s. The current owner, who’s been living there for more than five years, did some more renovations (on the kitchen, for instance) four years ago. She has another home nearby and is happy to share a bottle of wine on the rooftop if her guests are up for it.

Major perks

The skylights admit a ton of natural light. Four patios—including the large rooftop deck—provide plenty of outdoor space for entertaining, and the rest of the backyard is filled with lush trees and shrubs. The owner loves to travel and has filled the space with quirky art, furniture and decor she’s picked up from countries in Africa and Asia.

Possible deal breaker

A couple of the bedrooms have clothing busts decorated with jewellery, which could certainly spook a sleepy guest in the night.

By the numbers

• 2,000 square feet
