These DIYs are simple and quick to make, so even if you aren’t the craftiest you can still make something that will impress that special someone!

Valentines Glitter Candles

These sparkly glitter candles will give your romantic dinner the extra dazzle that it needs. They look tricky but they are easy to make so you won’t have a Pinterest fail on your hands!

Valentine's Glitter Candle

Here’s how to do it:

Materials

  • Half-pint mason jars
  • Foam heart stickers
  • White acrylic paint
  • Pink acrylic paint
  • Mod Podge/white glue
  • White Glitter
  • Pink Glitter
  • Painters Tape

Steps

  1. Use the foam heart to trace and cut out the heart from painter’s tape. Tape the heart to the mason jar.
  2. Paint one jar with white paint and one with pink paint. Once completely dry use mod podge (around heart shape) then coat with glitter (white glitter on white mason jar and pink glitter on pink mason jar).
  3. Wait for the glitter to dry then remove the tape to reveal the heart shaped glitter votive.
  4. Add ribbon as a finishing touch and place a tea light candle inside.

Here’s how to do it:

Materials

  • Measuring spoons
  • Dish soap
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Heavy cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • White crayon
  • Plastic cup
  • Popsicle stick

Steps

  1. Draw 3 hearts for where you will write your secret message on the card.
  2. Write your secret message in the hearts on the card. You could do a message or secret gift options (ie, free back rub, week of no dishes, free hug, etc).
  3. Fill in your heart with white crayon, coloring heavily over your writing.
  4. Thoroughly mix 2 tsp. acrylic paint with 1 tsp. dish soap.
  5. Fill in the hearts with your paint mixture using a small paintbrush and let it dry.
  6. When you gift it, don’t forget to include the nickel — or quarter, if you’re feeling extra generous!

 

 

Valentine’s Day Tree

This delicate Valentine’s day tree is the perfect decoration to give your home a cheery lift this February!

Here’s how to do it:

Materials

  • Vase
  • Paper (whichever colors you prefer)
  • Small tree branches
  • White paint
  • White glue
  • Fishing line

Steps

  1. Paint tree branches white (or you can keep them natural depending on which look you prefer).
  2. Cut paper into small hearts, fold hearts in half and glue hearts together on the fold line to create a 3D effect.
  3. Glue hearts onto fishing line then hang them on the branches.

 

 

Stenciled Valentines frames

There’s no better way to show someone that you care by giving them a photo of one of your favourite moments in a homemade frame.

Here’s how to do it:

Materials

  • Picture Frames
  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Stencils

Steps

  1. Paint Your frames white and wait for them to dry.
  2. Choose your stencils. You can get a wide variety of stencils from art stores so choose a few different ones to have a variety of patterns.
  3. Transfer your stencil to the frame and lightly dab each frame with a foam brush to make sure the paint is applied evenly. Then let the paint dry for 10 minutes.
  4. Be sure they are fully dry and remove the stencils carefully.
  5. Put your favourite photo in the frame once all the paint is dry.

This is a cute gift for your daughter or your friends. Most of the materials are things that you already have which makes this craft not only inexpensive and environmentally friendly!

Materials

  • Old chocolate boxes or jewelry boxes
  • Scraps of fabric, wrapping paper or pages from old books
  • White glue
  • Scissors

Steps

  1. ind an old chocolate or jewelry box, works well if it is small and even cuter if it’s heart shaped!
  2. Choose what style you would like (for a vintage look use pages from old books).
  3. Apply glue to the box and cover the box with the desired paper or fabric that you choose.
  4. Wait for the glue to dry and put in any little gifts that you would like to give!
